I am so proud and honoured to serve as President for the Rotary Club of Nanaimo Daybreak for the 2022-23 Rotary year.
The theme for this Rotary year is IMAGINE ROTARY. This theme was chosen by the 2022-23 Rotary International President, Jennifer Jones, the first WOMAN president of Rotary International and the first CANADIAN president of Rotary International.
Rotary is a global network of 1.4 million neighbours, friends, leaders, and problem-solvers united in 46,000+ clubs worldwide. We see a world where people IMAGINE ROTARY and take action to create lasting change – across the globe, in our communities, and in ourselves. Solving real problems takes real commitment and vision. For more than 110 years, Rotary’s people of action have used their passion, energy, and intelligence to engage in sustainable projects. From literacy and peace to water and health, we are always working to better our world, and we stay committed to the end.
Daybreak is one of 5 active clubs in the Nanaimo region and is an energetic morning club 45 members strong. Daybreak has been serving our community and the world for over 25 years!
As a consensus building leader, my personal goal this year is to focus on our Members. In addition to welcoming new members, I want to ensure all members new and current are supported in their Rotary Journey so that at the end of the Rotary year they can say they are proud to be a member of the Rotary Club of Nanaimo Daybreak.
Daybreak hosts in person weekly meetings and offers the meeting by Zoom as well. We invite guests and schedule guest speakers on a monthly basis to learn more about the needs and issues within our community and abroad. We fundraise for local initiatives, world projects, and enjoy opportunities to provide hands on service wherever possible.
If you would like to learn more and join us as we IMAGINE ROTARY I welcome you to visit us at one of our morning meetings or send us an e-mail for more information! ()
YOURS IN ROTARY
GRAHAM CALDER
Greetings from the Rotary Club of Nanaimo Daybreak
I am very proud and honoured to have been elected President of the Rotary Club of Nanaimo Daybreak. This year’s Rotary theme is, “Rotary Opens Opportunities.” I think this is an important message, especially with all that’s currently going on in the world. Rotary allows individuals to come together to provide “service above self” and offer opportunities to so many different people in our local community and all around the world.
Our club is a breakfast club that meets every Wednesday at 7:00 am although many of our members are there by or before 6:30 AM to enjoy fellowship ship with other early bird members. We are a fun-loving group and have a great energy, even at 7:00 AM!
Rotary Daybreak is a mixture of men and women from all walks of life. We have a diverse group of business owners, professionals, working people, retirees and even some younger regular attending members who are under 15! We have a common desire to build relationships that result in plans, goals and successful projects, which help the life of many in our community and the global community. We care about one another and we make an effort to have a little fun doing all these things.
We are part of a leadership organization that starts at the club level, is a part of a District which spans the whole of Vancouver Island and Western Washington State, which is part of a Zone made up of 14 districts in the Western United States and Canada. This expand to 34 Zones worldwide. We are 33,000+ Rotary cubs in over 200 counties making 1.2 million people who are connected and work together to make a difference.
We invite you to provide service above self with Rotary.
Yours in Rotary,
Anna Jones, President, CPA, CA
