Nanaimo Golf Club – Nine & Dine Format
Each year the Rotary Club of Nanaimo Daybreak has organized the “Golf Fore Youth” Charity Golf Tournament in support of youth in our community. This year, we are rebranding our tournament to the Terry Rogers Memorial Golf Tournament to honour our fellow Rotarian, Terry Rogers, who chaired this event for many years. The tournament is scheduled for Friday, May 26th, 2023 at the Nanaimo Golf Club at 4:00 pm with registration starting at 3:00 pm. The tournament is a “nine and dine” shot gun start with a Texas Scramble format.
Funds raised this year will be donated to the Nanaimo Youth Services Association (NYSA) who support youth through various programs and two housing facilities. Currently, their youth housing facilities are some of the only permanent housing supports for youth in Nanaimo. At any given time, there is a waitlist of at least 15 homeless young people for one of their 36 housing units. There is estimated to be over 100 youth between the age of 13 and 24 who are homeless in Nanaimo on any given night.
NOTE: If you have bought a ticket for “Dinner Only”, please arrive about 6:30, with anticipated buffet starting at 6:45 or 7:00.

Earth Day Trash Pickup
Members of the public are invited to take part in the Rotary Clubs of Nanaimo & Lantzville’s second annual clean up event to collect garbage from various sites around the city in recognition of Earth Day. Last year, we collected 2,100 pounds of garbage. Our goal is to exceed that amount this year but need your help to achieve that goal!
Date: Saturday, April 22
Meet time: 9:15 a.m. to hand in waiver and receive site map.
Where: Meet in the parking lot of the Nanaimo Visitor Information Centre at Northfield Road and Inland Island Highway. Participants will then be sent out as small teams to designated sites around Nanaimo to collect garbage.
What is provided: Large green garbage bags, garbage ‘picker-uppers’, blue latex gloves, pick up of garbage at the end by the City
What to bring: A truck or similar if you have one and are willing to use it to bring collected garbage back to the visitor centre (all teams will have a participant with a truck); your Rotary shirt, jacket or hoodie, heavy gloves for grabbing big stuff; a few medium sized bags which are easier to carry around than the big black ones, or a 5 gallon pail (easiest of all to carry). If you are in a high-traffic area it is advisable to wear reflective vests.
